Someone (not me) once summed up my research as, "Girl Groups: Ferrara to Motown." Actually, it divides up into four broad categories, with perhaps more overlaps than you might think:

To be fair, much of what I do centres on the voice, singers and vocal music, but I have been known to write about gender, race, rhetoric, musical games, musical pornography, sexuality, southernness (as in "Dixie") and affect. I have a great time in archives, and I'm also a mode geek.
