Italian Renaissance music

Jazz (pre WWII)

Girl singers

Disability and music

Someone (not me) once summed up my research as, "Girl Groups: Ferrara to Motown." Actually, it divides up into four broad categories, with perhaps more overlaps than you might think:

Italian Renaissance music

Jazz (pre WWII)

Girl singers

Disability and music

To be fair, much of what I do centres on the voice, singers and vocal music, but I have been known to write about gender, race, rhetoric, musical games, musical pornography, sexuality, southernness (as in "Dixie") and affect. I have a great time in archives, and I'm also a mode geek.

The links take you to pages with lists of projects, past and present, and their abstracts; some projects have their own sites, too. Some may appear in more than one category, but I did say they overlap, didn't I?
